Day 1

We were instructed to arrive in Seattle a day early so we wouldn't miss the boat. Apparently there was one couple who didn't receive the same advice because we heard they were on the dock with their suitcases waving frantically to the boat as we pulled away. I don't know how often that happens or what happened to that couple but I know we didn't go back for them.
So we had a free afternoon in Seattle and since we had been to the Space Needle and the Fish Market on a previous visit we decided to check out Pioneer Square. We met a couple on the metro on the way there who encouraged us to check out Smith Tower. They said it was a great view and much cheaper than the Space Needle.
We were glad we did as they suggested.

Smith Tower - opened on July 4, 1914.
At the time it was the 4th tallest building in the world.
The brass Otis Elevators are still operated
by an elevator operator.
The Observation Deck is on the 35th floor off the Chinese Room which contained furniture and these beautiful ceiling tiles that were gifts from the Empress of China.
We had a nice day to see the town of Seattle.
Way back in the distance we could see our cruise ships.
A zoomed in view of the ships.
We had our view of the Space Needle.
The mountains in the background were a little cloud covered and
I couldn't tell you if that's Mt. Rainier or not.
We then went on over to Pioneer Square and
took an Underground Tour of the area.
The history of the underground town was a neat story
about how the area was repeatedly flooded out and
they built up the present town over the old town.
I didn't take any pictures though because it was mostly just
old concrete buildings, junk, ghosts, and rats.
But the square was lively and we enjoyed doing some people watching.
We were surprised how tired we were -
until we remembered we had gotten up at 3AM
and had a 2 hour time change.
So we headed back to the metro/hotel and
had dinner and crashed early.

Last of the 20's

I asked Stevie to order his cake
for us to pick up and
this is what he had them put on it.
He has always had a great sense of humor.

And a beautiful smile to go with that humor -
which also helped him get out of trouble
on numerous occasions.

This will be the last year I can say I have
children in their late 20's -
although watching him tease Coen
it's nice to know my kids
are always going to be young at heart.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
STEVIE -
LOVE YOU ALWAYS
AND FOREVER!

Ayden's Ballerina Party

Ayden turned 3 years old last week so we got to celebrate tonight
in ballerina style.

All the little girls had on their tutu's - even Hadley had tutu ruffles.
Gracie thought tutu's were a marvelous idea.
Coen wasn't really into the ballerina theme.
Nor was Spencer.
Somehow Jackson escaped my camera but he was all boy
and no tutu as well.

Ayden blowing out her candles.
And then the yummy part of eating cupcakes -
the only thing maybe better was
opening all her presents -
and guess what she got a lot of - tutus!
Jessie loved that because that's all Ayden wants to wear these days.
Happy Birthday Ayden - love you!

Jen's Birthday

I messed up the pictures of Jen's birthday celebration
this year because I had been playing with the settings
of my camera and didn't think to check and reset them.
I have some artsy pics- but not what I was looking for.
Therefore, we have pics of Jen from old birthdays

This (in honor of Hadley) is Jen's 1st Birthday.

This (in honor of Coen) is Jen's 3rd Birthday.

And this (in honor of Spencer) is Jen's 7th Birthday -
I know he's only 6 but he's so anxious to be 7!
OK - the truth is her 6th birthday didn't have very good pics.

And this is just for fun because we were telling Spencer about her
Umbrella Hat.
Her actual birthday is not for a few more days -
maybe I'll remember to get a current picture.
Happy Birthday
to my favorite oldest daughter
Love you always Jenny!

61!

The family was all here last night to help
Steve celebrate his 61st Birthday.
Somehow I neglected to get many pictures but
this is Jackson watching Popo
try to blow out his candle.
Happy Birthday Steve!

Becky & Karl's Birthday

For all of those who read Jen & Becky's blogs -
most of these pictures will look pretty familiar -
we all seem to point our cameras in the same direction - but
Happy Belated Birthday Becky
and Happy Early Birthday Karl
Nate - notice how they each blow out their own candle :)
(you know I'm teasing!)
I'm not sure if Nate is crooked or it's the picture?
Karl getting some help opening his presents.
Gracie Girl being silly.
Big smile from Ayden.
Sweet little Hadley.
Jax stood still for a split second for me-love those cheeks.
Spencer being his sweet self and growing too fast.
Gracie in her pig tails.
Coen either pulling shoes off or putting them on -
Jen says he's into changing clothes constantly these days.
Stevie with his sweet little girl.
GG Neal and GG Haupt
Steve watching the kids have fun.
Hadley and sisters Jen & Becky.
We had fun but missed Jessie who was off on a business trip.
Happy Birthday kids - love all you guys!!

He Did It Again

I don't normally like to put pictures
of myself on here but Nate always makes me laugh.
We get to share our birthday celebration
and he again managed to blow out both our
candles before I could react at all.
Happy Birthday Nate
and thanks dear family for a fun birthday party.
